The History of Film and Video

Many years ago people were surprised by my Super 8mm films having sound. Most people had not heard of that since all the 8mm films people took were all silent for over 40 years. Today when they see them they just think they were originally shot on video tape.  Then in the early 1980s they went and introduced the 8mm video camera (Video8) just to confuse things more! Now when I speak about 8mm, 30 something people think I am talking about video cameras. Just to set the record straight and keep everything in one place here is a list of important dates for film and video.
